Each morning most of us, through force of habit will get up and go to work or school, but you have a choice NOT to do those things. Ofcourse, if you didn’t go to work you could get fired, and if you didn’t go to school you would miss out on taking that important math test or homework assignment.

Each of us have the Free Will to make our own choices.

A student at school has to follow the rules governing the school or he/she will have penalties to answer for, but even at school a person can choose NOT to accept the rules. And go at his or her own Free Will.

Free Will is the abliity to choose for one’s self and accept the consequences for their actions.

The meaning of life, in my view is Procreation & Free Will.

First of all, Man, like all things, has two consistencies: the physical and the nonphysical, or, the mundane and the sublime; the physical, or mundane, consistency constitutes the flesh, and the flesh contains the vital organ-systems necessary to physical, or mundane, life – which, in Man, are the heart-lung-belly system, the musculature-skeleton system, and the brain-nervetree system (take note here that these number three); the nonphysical, or sublime, consistency constitutes the body (which is the nonphysical counterpart to the physical body), and the body contains the vital organ-systems necessary to nonphysical, or sublime, life – which, in Man, are the the soul (the corresponding nonphysical counterpart to the heart-lung-belly system),  the spirit (the corresponding nonphysical counterpart to the musculature-skeleton system) and the mind (the corresponding nonphysical counterpart to the brain-nervetree system).

- You may have heard – but have you SEEN, EXPERIENCED within yourself (and without as well) the POWER of God?

Based on your response, obviously not – but I actually hope that you have and aren’t admitting it or will someday. I most certainly have. And I believe that the indescribable experience of “otherness”, of something more – isn’t merely wishful thinking. It isn’t delusion. It’s God. Like when you’ve had a great cigar, or meal, or sex, or see the beauty (and perhaps even lack therof) in life, nature, the universe – I KNOW, from my subjective experience, that I have SEEN God through those wonderful experiences.

I have a firm belief that the answer to the meaning of life is 42. Before you say anything, I KNOW that Douglas Adams said 42 means nothing and was just a simple idea thought up while he was looking out the window, BUT, if you spend your time wondering what the ‘meaning of life’ is, 42 fills that gap. Once you have that question answered, you can move on to more important matters.

—————————–

The opinions/thoughts/excretions of others is only a indication of where you are and what surrounds you.  There is only one voice/opinion/life and that is yours.  You are the only constant in your existence.  Believe in yourself.  Look into yourself, hear your thoughts, don’t  judge what you see or hear.  If you don’t like it put it aside for another time (part of non-judgement).  Creation/God, what you like, has only one resource for creation, it self.  So by definition you are not beyond, different, defective, hopeless, etc.  You are looking for someone else’s voice to fill the void created by dismissing your own.  How can life be confusing if by definition we are life?

Thank you for allowing anyone to post their own definition of the meaning of life. I think that each of us find our own path and own meaning to life’s biggest question.

Jesus has given me pride and life purpose. Serving him is the meaning of my life.

Mount everest, a giraffe, the distant nebula or even garbage have a purpose for their existance. If you feel otherwise, then you are steering yourself away from finding out the meaning of your own existance.

  5. I Think the meaning of life is a lesson planned by God to seperate the pure from the good and from the evil. We need to guide others in the right path. Life is a crossroad.

If there is no meaning to life then why do we exist and what is the purpose of us existing? The answer to what is the meaning of life is for humans to exist.

i think you are focusing on the wrong thing here.
you talk about what happens outside of life (such as what happens before birth and after death) and you use this to argue that life is pointless. but what is outside life is not life, so it cannot make life pointless.
to determine whether or not life has purpose, you have to look at life – rather than looking at our state before birth and after death.

well, i kinda agree with scott that the meaning of life is to exist…nothing more than that. However, i would like to add, we live to die… It may sounds down, but its true, we all live to die but at the same time we are trying to change the fact… LOL, but all the best we can do is still, die…with glory…

I like having lots of opinions here.

Everybody should be able to share what they think.
However, i am one of the apparently rare few who take life at face value and don’t see a meaning or need for one…
But Douglas Adams sure made a few philosophical breakthroughs.

The meaning of life isn’t to cross a busy street and find you made it to the other side. It’s not to make so much money you have to pay to get rid of it. It’s not to get that congragulatory pat on the back from your super-intendant. I think, it’s to, well, enjoy it, get stoned, mess around, listen to music ALOT, fall in love, do things the way YOU wanna do, nobody exists in this life but yourself. ;) think about it

  18. I believe that the meaning of life is us. We have to believe in ourselves. Trust are own paths to the future and answers to our questions. Don’t follow the path that people tell you to that you know you won’t enjoy and want. We have to cherish each moment with thought and hope because we cannot live forever. Achieve goals, achieve dreams – make life what you want it to be – because you only get one life. Every one of us has a day when we would die, but it is the happiness of our lives that we remember when we are dying that makes life truly great.

i belive we should not look at it as what is the meaning of life? but as what is the meaning of me living today? when you look at it in the long run, you can not actually find an answer. the reason for this is that the meaning is not actually clear. however if will look at it as the meaning of today then we actually have a meaning to that day. for instance i wake up to go to school everyday, to see my friends, to learn. that is the meaning for that day. once that day is passed move on to the next. by doing this not only is it easier to live life, it is also easier to understand it all.

Are we not all the same to speak and hear to touch to feel to cry to laugh are these not what makes the meaning of life to show and understand like the sea that hits the shore wave after wave no end no begining just being.

I believe the meaning of life to be what i thought about when my dad passed. Its knowing that it’s the things that cant be replace that give it meaning. Loving and letting the ones you love know that everyday. Making memories that will last a life time and embracing them with all of your heart. It’s about living in the now, and forgetting about the past. It’s about realizing that it’s the small everyday things that will always count. But most of all it’s about not taking what God has givin you for granit. Because today, tomorrow, or even the next hour is not promised.

Philosophers have been pondering this question for centuries……and have still been unable to answer it fully…..as humans it is normal for us to wonder…but perhaps that is the point….that we are able to wonder…a lion doesn’t wonder why he is here..nor does a leaf on a tree or a fish in the ocean..God gave human beings the ability to ask questions about their own existence such as “why are we here?” and “what is the meaning of life?” and maybe just maybe that is the meaning…to have the knowledge to ask but not to be able to answer it ourselves..I believe that that is up to the Lord and when we cross over to the next plane we will have our answer…we are on Earth for a blink when you think about the fact that the afterlife is an eternity…the best we can do is love one another and that may sound trite nd hokey but it is a nice way to think about it…

  29. First, people must respect him. Must get along with people, you should have the union in a draw. We must love and respect. We must be understanding. We must empathize. We must not break each other, we should not worry.
Most importantly, we must always support each other.

A really difficult question.I would propose two answers. First the real meaning of life is to earn an honourable death. The second is that there is no meaning to life except in what we learn and experiance as we live it. We are complete in ourselves we don’t need another person to complete us but we do need people to allow us to experience love, regret, sorrow and friendship.

The meaning of life? When we create something, we do so for a purpose: beauty, function, fun, etc… Humankind was created for a purpose. We must look to the creator for our purpose, our meaning. If we look to the Bible, as the creator’s word, and historical relevance, we find that we WERE created for a purpose; His purpose. We were also granted free will. We can choose his purpose, or our own purpose, if we reject His. His purpose was for relationship with Him. That is the ultimate meaning of life. If you don’t like His meaning, you can choose your own, which will not be as fulfilling, but none-the-less, what you desire. There are benefits to choosing His purpose. It is not worth it to everyone, which shows His great love, that He does not demand that we follow His purpose.
