The Lazy Man’s Meditation
So, why don’t we all meditate? Well, first, it can be seriously time consuming. Second, and more importantly, even when we sit with our eyes closed using some new age breathing techniques, most of us never really achieve that zen like state. I know a portion of my own meditative time is spent in something that feels like a good snooze! At least that was the case until a couple of years ago when I discovered the lazy man’s way to meditate - the Holosync solution. Now, this is not an advertisement of any sort. I’m not getting paid to write this or commission from the company. I’m just telling you a story of how I have found more meaning in my life with a solution that guarantees to put me in a meditative state within a few minutes.

A couple of years ago, I was just post a bad break-up. The usual ice cream, movies, friends, and psychic hotlines were not doing the trick to lift my spirits. Some weeks and many, many hours of internet research later I happened upon a story of a man named Bill Harris. Bill, like myself, had gone to great lengths seeking meaning and happiness in his life.
Bill had heard that meditation would help him in this pursuit for meaning and joy, so when he was 19 he started meditating—an hour, sometimes more, each day—and he kept it up for sixteen years! Bill studied Eastern philosophy. He read everything he could get his hands on about psychology and psychotherapy. And, being a gung-ho, throw-caution-to-the-winds kind of guy, he actually tried everything people and book suggested!
It’s not that he didn’t get results from all these things. Sometimes Bill would even have what seemed to be dramatic breakthroughs. Eventually, though, he realized that the deep underlying cause of his unhappiness wasn’t really being altered by any of these things and the progress was unbearably slow. At this point, Bill sought out a better and faster way to find peace and thru his journey; a better and more effective way to meditate. And that’s when Bill started reading about neurotechnology. He found a neuro-audio technology that when placed beneath soothing music and listened to with stereo headphones, produces some absolutely mind-blowing experiences for the listener. Bill used this as a basis to produce his own technology that has now become his life work.
I’m not going to go into the technicals behind Holosync because, well, because I probably would screw up the explanation. I’m just going to tell you that Bill Harris has perfected this neurotechnology and has packaged it so you can literally get into a zen monk like meditative state with the touch of a button. After my first 30-minute session, I went deeper and more into that dream-like state than any of my previous meditation experiments over the last several years. The best part? I put the tracks on my ipod and hit play - virtually effortless.
What happens when you press play? Well, you listen to what seems to be very nice bells and rain and some other things you’d commonly find on one of those defunct sharper image noise machines. The difference is that the embedded audio tracks underneath these pleasant sounds sync with your brain and quickly put you in a deep meditative state. In the beginning, there were a lot of repressed emotional feelings that came up during my meditation. I actually cried a few times without realizing I was doing it- kinda freaky, but quite cathartic. After these sort of darker sessions, I’ve had more blissful ones and (this sounds hokey) many sessions that produce clear life visions. In fact, I even keep a notebook next to me when I meditate so I can scribble down all the thoughts and ideas that seem to be flowing like gifts in my mind.
I’m not saying it is the only or best way to meditate, but it is a great solution for those of you who do not intend on applying to monk school
If you’ve ever had the desire to meditate but neither the time, nor patience, I suggest giving Holosync a whirl. I’ve been meditating with these cds for the last two years and it has truly changed my life. You can find more information at centerpointeresearch.com.

A
gazillion different studies tell us that people who meditate everyday are far
happier than those who do not. I guess they are also healthier, live longer, and
(get this) are smarter! It seems those who meditate have a sense of well-being
is much higher than that of non-meditators. In fact, meditators are so much
healthier that there are even some insurance companies charging lower premiums
for those that meditate than for the general population. So why doesn't everyone
meditate?
I currently am using the silva ultra mind system to meditate and it sounds very similar to holosync. What they have in common is the audio technology used. I’ve had a similar experience with deep meditative states achieved very quickly.
01 Apr 09 at 2:12 pm #Very informative blog. I found the story about Bill Harris to be very inspirational…he seems to have persevered and achieved. I think this type of dedication has become a rarity in our society.
01 Apr 09 at 2:13 pm #I think the author has put the concept of meditation upside down.
02 Apr 09 at 9:51 pm #Can anyone please explain the following, so that I may understand the ideas discussed here:-
1. “So, why don’t we all meditate? Well, first, it can be seriously time consuming.” –How much time does meditation takes up or how much time should be dedicated for meditating.
2. “Second, and more importantly, even when we sit with our eyes closed……” Do we have to close our eyes in order to meditate?
3. “……….using some new age breathing techniques,” Are breathing techniques a part and parcel of meditation?
4. “……most of us never really achieve that zen like state.” What is zen and the zen like state in meditation?
I just want to add to the earlier comment that meditation cannot be achieved by external stimuli like music or touch. It is an inner feeling. The feeling that is achieved through an external factor is only a state of deep concentration on that stimuli.
06 Apr 09 at 4:37 am #I have no training in meditation I simply try to silence my brain a couple of times a week. Being in nature helps. I don’t think one should expect to experience a deep trance. Just try to turn off the chatter in your brain and listen to every little sound and sight around you. Don’t judge or analyze what you hear or see just recognize those things are there in the universe just as you are.

12 Jun 09 at 8:36 pm #Great blog, the thing is, meditation can be viewed in so many ways, that some see it as deep relacation, and others see it as an oppertunity to work on balacing your chakras, or spiritual matters, it is these people who get the full expiriance of meditating.
14 Jul 09 at 6:16 pm #Where can I get my hands on some of this Bill Harris material? I am at a very early stage of learning to meditate, and to think that someone has spent years trying different methods and stand by this option, it has got to be worth trying.
08 Oct 09 at 1:01 am #Can anyone help?
You can have a external aid to help in achieving meditative mood ,but the state of nothingness or stillness is internal and to be in that state for a long time one needs to go beyond the external aid and soley depend on oneself.

To be honest friend I’ve seen a few of the sites u recomment and praise, for one, material wealth is nothing, I’m very dissapointed that the web had all the typical commercial rubbish that u sell, real englightenment has nothing to do with material wealth, we’re here for a breath of a human life, but your philosphy will bring you back many life times in learning for the damage you are doing here with this false money orinated enterprise, sad to say the least, in the next life or hopefully this one ( as i’ve given contact details) we can discuss this again, but you will be too un evolved to understand, I recon..short materlial gain for multiple lifes to regain..
26 Nov 09 at 5:03 am #I’ve just read the posts before mine, as at first I just gave an educatuded personal view to thw subject matter, from reading the recent posts i recon that they are false or ye are hypnotised to the subject, false properganda is more likely as ye cannot be that ignorant to the real thruth..no more to be said..read..Deeepak Choopra..or ..Dr Dwane Dwyer…or ..Echart Toole for the resal thruth..adios
26 Nov 09 at 5:13 am #yea sometimes it feels a bit lazy to wake up early mornings on holidays.. hehe
but still i do Meditation on weekends early morning as its simple process refreshing our whole day.
Find a quiet place where we feel comfortable, close eyes and deeper breath, clearing our mind. and it actually becomes relaxed and at peace
08 Dec 09 at 1:03 am #I agree, medidtation can produce happiness. iceandsoda made one very god point that he/she didn’t spell out or try to make- this blog is assuming a lot, taking a lot for granted.
The basic concept it seems to be taking for granted- happiness is the point, the main thing, the reason or whatever. What if happiness is not the end-all? And if not happiness, really the end all? Hopefully meditation will bring s closer to this. if it’s happiness, hopefuly it brings us to it!
18 Jan 10 at 5:10 pm #god point=good point.
